An inquest into the death of Nicole Lafontaine is now underway in Regina.

Lafontaine, 31, had been staying at the YWCA in Regina for approximately one week when she died in July 2022. At approximately 2:45 a.m. CST on July 22, emergency services received a call about an injured person who had fallen out of a fifth-floor window at the YWCA. It was Lafontaine.

Regina police and EMS arrived at the scene and Lafontaine was transported to the Regina General Hospital.
